KIM SHIELDS is an ambitious, practical girl. She waits on tables in order to save enough money to accept a scholarship at a famous Baltimore Interior Design school in the fall. She takes the bus to work and lives with her old sister, ANGELA, her husband, REVEREND JOE COOPER and their child, Brian. She dreams of someday moving out on her own and owning her own Interior Design Business.
NICK WILLIAMS, a flower delivery boy by day, is about to finish his first theatrical screenplay as a project of his community college creative writing class. He wants to be a screenwriter, but has no grand illusions that he will make it. Living at home, he makes enough money to pay his bills and spend his lunchtimes at Big Mama's restaurant, where Kim works. The two begin dating, and love does not appear far away.
JESSE TAYLOR the successful neighborhood loan shark. He and Angela were childhood sweethearts. Years later, the spark between them remains. Jesse and Nick had been very close high school friends. All the young boys in the neighborhood respect Jesse., who generously employs and finances some of the illegal local activity of the neighborhood's drug and gun running activities. But when Jesse and Kim get together, his actions and motives set off a chain of events that shakes up the community and ends in murder!
